"Too F*ckin' Nice" (also stylized as "Too F****n' Nice" and "Too Fuxin Nice") is a song performed by American actress and singer Victoria Justice, co-written with Paris Carney and its producers, Cooper Holzman and Dylan Bauld. It was released as a single on May 28, 2021.[1]

Background and release[]

On May 20, 2021, Victoria Justice posted a silent video of singing with caption "May or may not be releasing a new song soon... anyone wanna read my lips and guess what it's called?".[2] Later that day, she announced the release of a single titled "Too F*ckin' Nice" on May 28, publishing its cover artwork and pre-save link.[3] Days before the release, Justice published the track's snippets and some lines of the lyrics on her social media.[4][5][6][7] The lyric video was uploaded on the singer's YouTube channel on June 11.

The inspiration for the song was revealed on Instagram: "'Sorry'. 'My bad'. 'No you speak'. 'Totally my fault'. 'You're right'. 'I don't know'. 'Sorry to bother you'. 'Is that ok?' I have used these phrases one too many times... This song is for all my fellow #toofckinnice-rs out there who have apologized when they shouldn't have and didn't speak up for themselves when they damn well know they should have. TONIGHT we take the power back".[8]

Music video[]

On May 29, 2021, Victoria Justice wrote "I have something fun planned for tomorrow..." on her social media.[9] The next day, she released a short music video, referred to as "homemade video", which features her performing a song and playing with sparklers along with her friends, who wear bear, dinosaur and Pikachu heads for most of the video. It ends after the first chorus.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Last night at dinner
You talked straight for an hour
I never said a word
Said I was such a good listener
Said you talked my ear off
'Bout somethin', who knows what
Didn't wanna be diffucult
Just count it as my loss

[Pre-chorus]
All the same excuses
Feeling kinda useless
Don't know why I do this
Why do I do this?

[Chorus]
I'm way too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Even when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Even when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice

[Verse 2]
I'll tell you I'm sorry
Simply for breathing (simply for breathing)
Unnecessary
Always people pleasing

[Pre-chorus]
All the same excuses (yeah)
Feeling kinda useless
Don't know why I do this
Why do I do this?

[Chorus]
I'm way too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Evеn when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Evеn when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice

[Bridge]
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh

[Chorus]
I'm way too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Even when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice
I'll apologize
Even when I know right
I'm too fuckin' nice

Trivia[]

  • Originally, only Dylan Bauld, Paris Carney, and Cooper Holzman were credited as writers and producers, with Holzman's surname was misspelled as "Holtzman". Sometime later, Victoria Justice was added as a writer and Carney's credit as producer was removed.
  • Even shortly after the song's release, the line "Last night at dinner" was often mistaken for "Last night on Tinder".[11]
  • Justice posted the alternative cover artwork for the single on July 7, 2021.[12]
