"Here's 2 Us" (also written as "Here's to Us") is a song performed by American actress and singer Victoria Justice, written by E. Kidd Bogart, Lindy Robbins, Emanuel Kiriakou, and Michelle Branch, and produced by Kiriakou with Andrew Goldstein and Jens Koerkemeier, for the Nickelodeon television series Victorious. It was released as the first track on the series' second extended play, Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show, on October 30, 2012.

Background and release[]

On October 16, 2012, Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show, the second extended play featuring music from Victorious, became available as a pre-order on iTunes. It was scheduled to be released on November 6 and contain five songs, including "Here's 2 Us" as the opening track. However, the EP was released earlier on October 30, exclusively on the series' official website TheSlap, before the commercial release.

Appearance in Victorious[]

Heres 2 us

"Here's 2 Us" was performed by Tori Vega (portrayed by Victoria Justice) with André Harris (portrayed by Leon Thomas III) in the episode "One Thousand Berry Balls", that premiered on December 8, 2012. They perform it at 9:00 p.m. at the school's Cow Wow party. The song itself has no impact on the plot of the episode.

Chart performance[]

Although it was never released as a single, "Here's 2 Us" spent nine weeks and peaked at number eight on the now-discontinued Kid Digital Song Sales chart.

Promotion[]

In November 2012, the music video for "Here's 2 Us" premiered. It consists of scenes from the episode "One Thousand Berry Balls" (although the episode itself hadn't yet been released at the time) and its production. Similar videos were previously made for "Take a Hint" and "L.A. Boyz". The video uses a version of the song performed in the series with Leon Thomas III.[2] "Here's 2 Us" also received an additional lyric video, which was exclusively shared by Celebuzz on December 4, before being later uploaded via Vevo.[3]

In 2013, Victoria Justice was scheduled to go on her second tour, Here's 2 Us Tour, named after the song. However, she canceled it in favor of a joint tour with Big Time Rush, the Summer Break Tour, where she performed "Here's 2 Us" as the last song on the set list.

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

[Verse 1]
Here's to the Mondays
Watchin' all the cars on the freeway
I ain't got a thing to do
Can I sit here next to you?
And oh, oh, oh
Yeah, I kinda wish I'd got paid
'Cause my card got maxed out yesterday
Could you give me a shot?
And I'll work with what I got
Not a dollar in my pocket but I rock it like I ain't broke
You know?

[Chorus]
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to us
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to never winnin' first place
Here's to cryin' on your birthday
Here's to every single heartbreak
Here's to us
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us

[Verse 2]
Here's to the mistakes
Somehow they always drop you in the right place
So, let's go another round
'Til the sky is falling down
And we'll laugh at all the shakers and movers, now who's the loser?
What a joke

[Chorus]
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to us
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to never winning first place (come on)
Here's to crying on your birthday (on your birthday)
Here's to every single heartbreak
Here's to us
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us

[Interlude]
Na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na

[Bridge]
I'm a player, I'm a hater
But I swear you would never know
'Cause I got a smile on, I'm an ex-con
That just got off parole
Could've been a contender, a pretender
Like Brando play the role
But I'm not, so what?
And that's just how it goes
Yeah

[Chorus]
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to us
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Here's to us, uh-oh (uh-oh)
Here's to never winning first place
Here's to crying on your birthday (oh-oh-yeah)
Here's to all the bad first dates (oh-yeah)
Here's to every single heartbreak
Here's to raining on your own parade
Here's to showing up anyway
Here's to us
Here's to us
Here's to

[Outro]
Here's to the Mondays

Trivia[]

  • "Here's 2 Us" is one of Victoria Justice's two songs whose title uses "2" as the equivalent of "to" in SMS language. The other one is "Song 2 You".
  • It's the longest track on standard version of Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show.
  • This is one of three tracks from the extended play that were performed in Victorious as a duet between Justice and Thomas. The others are "Faster Than Boyz" and "365 Days". Ironically, each is performed by only one of them on the officially released version, and "Here's 2 Us" and "Faster Than Boyz" are sung only by Justice.
  • Jens Koerkemeier is missing a producer credit on Spotify for some unknown reason, although he's credited on Apple Music (as an "additional producer") and YouTube Music (as "misc. prod.").[5][6]
  • The line "Like Brando play the role" is a reference to the late actor Marlon Brando.
  • The song appears in the Inspired by P!nk playlist on Apple Music.[7]
